A Brief History

Doc Stalwart first appeared in 1937, headlining 17 issues of The Astounding Doc Stalwart before the creators - Lee Stanford and Kirby Jackson - went off to war, and Stalwart Press went out of business. In the early 1960s, the creators began publishing Doc's adventures again under the New Stalwart Press banner, and his comic has continued monthly since that time. Starting with issue 251, prose adaptations are also published, and these are linked below. You can read a more detailed history as well.

  1. Here Doc’s co-creator is named Lee Stanley but in the detailed history he’s Lee Stanford.

  2. Thank you. Lee Stanford's estate had already sent me a strongly-worded letter, but they seem to have accepted my apology.

  3. I am so glad to have these all in one place! I would absolutely buy a collection of these, maybe with "covers" and a spot illustration for each story? :)
